Our Stroke Team consists of neurologists, neurosurgeons, cardiologists, emergency medicine and rehabilitative specialists, as well as a highly qualified nursing staff available to patients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

During a stroke, time lost is brain lost. The Stroke Team has developed a system for rapid diagnosis and treatment of stroke patients in the first few hours after the onset of stroke symptoms, when every moment counts. Our hospital provides a continuum of care from the emergency room to the rehabilitation process offering stroke patients and their family members access to the highest level of care with the advantage of being close to home.

Stroke Warning Signs

Recognizing the signs and symptoms of a stroke is one of the biggest challenges of stroke awareness. If you or someone you know experiences the symptoms of a stroke, remember to act F.A.S.T.

F(ace) – When the person smiles, does one side of the face droop?
A(rms) – If the person tries to raise both arms, does one drift downward?
S(peech) – When the person tries to repeat a simple sentence, are the words audible?
T(ime) – If the person shows any signs of these symptoms, call 9-1-1 immediately. Time is important.

Other signs of a stroke include:

• Sudden onset of confusion
• Loss of coordination including walking or balancing
• Numbness or weakness on one side of the body
• Severe headache
• Vision problems in one or both eyes
